[Australia] CRCMining Postgraduate Scholarships

CRCMining is recruiting talented engineering graduates and early career professionals to conduct commercially-viable research to tackle the technical challenges facing its mining industry members.

While undertaking your Research Masters (MPhil) or PhD, you will interact with researchers and mining personnel from multiple organisations and are likely to travel to mine sites throughout Australia and overseas.

You will also have the opportunity to be placed at one of CRCMining's four partner universities.

Scholarships up to AUD$40,000* p.a. are available (currently tax exempt).
[*Please note that conditions of the award may vary from university to university].

Applications are invited from high calibre, recent or soon-to-be honours graduates in Mining, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering. Early career industry professionals interested in returning to higher degree studies are strongly encouraged to apply.

CRCMining offers postgraduate scholarships to students wishing to pursue research in:

Mining Engineering

Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

CRCMining's headquarters are at the University of Queensland Pinjarra Hills site in Brisbane, with research activities conducted at:

The University of Queensland (UQ) St Lucia campus
The UQ Experimental Mine Site at Indooroopilly

Industrially Experienced Graduates (with accepted post graduation industrial experience) $25,000 base + $3,000 for each year of accepted post graduation industrial experience (for a maximum of 5 years/$15,000). Maximum scholarship of $40,000 p.a.

As an indicator, a stipend will normally be payable for 2 years for a Masters degree and 3 years for a PhD. The scholarship is currently HECS exempt for Australians. Performance and the stipend is reviewed annually.

Students will be placed with a research participant and will work as part of a professional research team solving real industry problems, with access to world-class research facilities.

Opportunities are also available to conduct field research in production operations and to gain experience in many aspects of the mining industry.

Please Note: Any offer of a scholarship by the CRCMining is made subject to approval of the candidate's enrolment as a postgraduate student by the CRCMining affiliated universities, based on sight of evidence of academic and other relevant qualifications. Candidates are therefore advised not to resign their present position or take any other action that would leave them disadvantaged should enrolment not be approved.

This applies particularly to candidates who are not Australian citizens or are not ordinarily resident in Australia, who also require a visa to enter Australia for study purposes. Please note also that persons who are not citizens or permanent residents of Australia may be required to pay international student tuition fees. Contact the University of Queensland International Education Office for more information.

Applications may be made anytime during the year. Please fill in this online application form or forward resume and relevant details with application to the address below.
