INSEAD Sasakawa (SYLFF) Scholarship(s)


Description:
This scholarship is an endowed gift to INSEAD from the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF). The Fund was established in 1987 by the Nippon Foundation in cooperation with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. In its initial phase, the SYLLF programme demonstrated its commitment to education through awarding fellowships to promising graduate students in the social sciences and humanities. Nearly 60 universities and consortia worldwide have received endowments of US $1 million (INSEAD included). In its second phase the SYLFF programme will look toward building a worldwide community of young leaders. As a philanthropist and the founding chairman of the Nippon Foundation, Ryoichi Sasakawa articulated philosophy that remains the driving force of the programme today. "The world is one family", he maintained, "and all mankind are brothers and sisters".The SYLFF programme is based on these principles. By helping to create a new generation of leaders, it seeks to overcome the divisions of nationality, religion, ethnic background and politics. SYLLF would like to encourage candidates of any nationality to broaden their knowledge and enhance their career opportunities through the INSEAD MBA programme.

Eligibility:
One or more awards will be granted per class to candidates of any nationality who demonstrate a strong interest in business leadership. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need.

Essay topic :
In no more than 500 words address the following question:
Describe a significant experience you have encountered, in either your professional or private life, in which you have demonstrated leadership in a cross-cultural situation. Identify the leadership qualities required and discuss your own sucess or failure in the above situation.
